The Machine Tool Probe is Inaccurate? What Should I Do?

Many manufacturing companies know that the decline or inaccuracy of measurement accuracy of machine tool probes after a long time of use will affect the processing and production of manufacturing companies, and even affect the competitiveness of manufacturing companies in the market. Therefore, manufacturing companies must quickly solve this problem. The following Pioneer will discuss how to solve this problem.

To solve the problem, it is necessary to know the reasons for the inaccurate measurement during the use of the machine tool probe.

Ⅰ. Reasons for the inaccurate measurement during the use of machine tool probe

1. Reasons for the decrease in measurement accuracy or inaccuracy of the machine tool probe after use:

  • Caused by the machine tool probe;

  • Caused by the CNC machine tool itself;

  • Caused by machining parts of CNC machine tools.

2. The main reasons for the inaccurate measurement of the machine tool probe caused by the machine tool probe are:

  • There are debris on the stylus of the machine tool probe;

  •  The machine tool probe is loosely installed or the stylus is loose;

  • The machine tool probe calibration is out of date or the calibration speed is different from the measurement speed;

  • The calibration feature of the machine tool probe moves or the offset value is incorrect;

  • Measure when the stylus of the machine tool probe leaves the surface of the workpiece;

  • The measuring speed of the machine tool probe is too fast or too slow;

  • The machine tool probe is malfunctioning.

3. The common reasons for the inaccurate measurement of the machine tool probe caused by the CNC machine tool are:

  • The repeatability of tool change of CNC machine tools is poor;

  • The numerical control machine tool has a large vibration during the measurement of the machine tool probe;

  • The position deviation of the CNC machine tool caused by the movement of the machine tool probe when measuring;

  • The CNC machine tool has a fault that affects the measurement result, such as a fault in the receiver of the CNC machine tool.

4.  The common reasons for the inaccurate measurement of the machine tool probe caused by CNC machine tools are:

  • There are debris attached to the surface of CNC machined parts:

  • The workpiece moves due to the temperature difference during the measurement process of the CNC machined parts;

  • The processed parts of CNC machine tools have certain magnetic or optical interference.

Ⅱ. How can we solve the decreased measurement accuracy of machine tool probe?

When the inaccurate measurement of the machine tool probe is caused by the machine tool probe itself, the operator only needs to clean the debris of the machine tool probe probe: check and properly fix the machine tool probe to make it between the CNC machine tool Firmer: Check the measurement software of the machine tool probe, correct the calibration position of the machine tool probe, and control the calibration speed of the machine tool probe to be consistent with the measurement speed. At the same time, pay attention to ensure the contact detection of the machine tool probe stylus. The measurement starts after it leaves the surface of the workpiece; the machine tool probe measurement software performs simple and repeatable measurement tests on the accuracy of the workpiece at various speeds to determine the reasonable measurement speed of the machine tool probe. Do not allow the measurement speed to be too fast or Too slow. If none of the above methods can be solved, it can be judged that the machine tool probe is malfunctioning. At this time, it is necessary to replace the new machine tool probe and follow the installation and use method of the new machine tool probe to solve the corresponding problem.

When the inaccurate measurement of the machine tool probe is caused by the CNC machine tool itself, the operator only needs to solve the problem of poor tool changeability of the CNC machine tool to make the tool change more reasonable and accurate, or directly let the machine tool probe on the CNC machine tool. Recalibrate the machine tool probe every time the tool is changed; at the same time, ensure the stability of the CNC machine tool, so that it cannot vibrate or move during processing, production or measurement; determine and solve the corresponding CNC machine tool failure to ensure the CNC machine tool failure will not affect the measurement results of the machine tool probe.

When the inaccurate measurement of the machine tool probe is caused by the CNC machine tool itself, the operator needs to ensure that the surface of the CNC machine tool is clean and remove the debris on the surface of the machine at all times. And try to ensure that the machine tool probe is measured when the surface temperature of the workpiece drops to the lowest, so as to avoid the workpiece movement due to temperature difference changes during the measurement process and affect the measurement results. In addition, attention should be paid to eliminating the magnetic or optical interference of the CNC machined parts, or use an appropriate stylus to ensure that the magnetic or optical interference of the CNC machined parts will not affect the measurement results of the machine tool probe.
